I always think of Soviet and/or North Korean streets when I see brutalist architecture. It's immediately depressing, and I'm not someone who knows much about architecture.
How the fuck do I know about brutalism, it's history, it's inspiration? Because it's so emotionally negative that I searched out the style and researched it's roots in order to better understand it.
My negative emotional reaction to it literally drove me to learn about this shittiest form of architecture, because I hated it and the way it made me feel so much.
Not even the ugly ass modern shit in London (see: Nokia cell phone shaped building) gives me that negative of a feeling as brutalism. I looked up brutalism! I didn't look up Nokia phone building!!
