>>1392050>got a pinch blowout on the tube, knocking out 50% of the hearing in my left ear
lol, this happened to me when I was a teenager. I was changing out an old 27" tire without knowing about the tire sizing hell that is bicycle tires and forced a very slightly smaller incorrectly sized tire onto my wheel. Shit blew up next to my ear as I was airing it.>>1392056
I'd agree but also disagree. I'd say the extra speed range of gears is nice but so is the no shit reliability of single speeds, especially in flatland, even more so in winter. The average person fails to maintain their bikes and eventually never change out of their comfy gear because their derailleur is out of calibration. A few don't even know how gears work.>>1392085
This too though. I live in flatland and see a lot of people chugging along in some bail out gear spinning out at a snails pace doing 5-10mph.>but you don't really need gears at all
I kinda disagree with this unless you're purely a commuter. If you're a gottagofast sanic, higher topend is needed. I spin out 48/16 at 30mph on the flats of flatland, would be nice to have more speed without compromising bottom end acceleration.
