Really accurate and insightful post about why hybrids suck and yet you don't see the reason they don't offer you these well thought out sensible city bikes when it's glaring you in the face..
If these companies make bikes that they can shill to the ignorant; and then ram products down their throats when all of these problems surface piecemeal, locking them into a cycle of useless "upgrades" until the next gen. shitty hybrid is redesigned to "address" all those problems; rinse and repeat. They make a lot more money than selling durable, long lasting, sensible bikes such as my 1988 Bridgestone RB-2 that my pops bought the year after I was born.
Companies are for profit, and believe it or not these strategies work around the world in all industries while the retarded masses hand their cash over.
I work in an industry of govt. tenders, and it's not uncommon to "write the tender" behind the scenes as a bidding company, basically writing their shopping list that only you are able to sell and service, making the entity procuring your goods your bitch until the contract ends. It's a simple game that works and isn't likely to change very soon sadly.
