Kamala Harris flips script when asked about becoming Joe Biden’s running mate

No.398613 ViewReplyOriginalReport
Sen. Kamala Harris took the reported frustration within her presidential campaign over speculation that she’s running to play second fiddle, perhaps to Joe Biden, as much as for the No. 1 slot on the Democratic ticket, and flipped the script. Asked at a press availability in Nashua, N.H., on Wednesday whether she was sick of such talk, Harris, said no, suggesting that, in fact, she encouraged it.

>‘I think that Joe Biden would be a great running mate — as vice president. He’s proven that he knows how to do the job. And there are certainly a lot of other candidates who would make, for me, a very viable and interesting vice president.’
>Sen. Kamala Harris

Watch the exchange here:

Biden, vice president for eight years under President Barack Obama, only formally declared himself a presidential candidate late last month but swiftly emerged as a front runner for the Democratic nomination. The Real Clear Politics aggregated polling average has Biden with nearly 40% of the prospective primary vote to Harris’s 7.7%; South Bend, Ind., mayor Pete Buttigieg’s 6.8%; and former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke’s 4.2%. The Democratic field features scores of other recognizable names including Sens. Cory Booker and Amy Klobuchar. Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York became on Thursday the latest entrant to the race.

Polls also show Biden ahead of incumbent Donald Trump.
