Foreign countries whose police will fire warning shots even when someone is carrying a knife is based. It gives the person a chance to reconsider before the lethal shot is given. That's professional police conduct. You guys only justify the lethal force because it's someone you don't like who is getting shot up.

She was storming the fucking capitol building, it was completely necessary. Besides, a warning shot in a building filled to the brim with people is likely to hit an innocent target rather than the person they're trying to prevent from entering.

You need to see the other two videos. They have better angles and show the situation a lot better. It is quite clear that woman was breaching a secure area and the officer didn't shoot until she was actively crossing through the broken window. It was a good shot. Actually, it was a rare case of accuracy and restraint put in context with the many videos of beat cops mag dumping into people running away. One bullet, angled so nobody was behind her, shot while the perpetrator was in tbe act of the specific crime she was shot for. Her getting shot out of that window stopped the tide of rioters and held the line. It was more than a good shot, it was a great shot since it prevented more mayhem than it caused.

When someone is breaking down the door, you don't know who they are or what they've got.

In hindsight, knowing that the life of the Vice President was not immediate in danger, yes, we can say that a warning shot should have been fired. But the officer in the room didn't know that. He only knew that a large armed mob which wanted to lynch the Vice President was breaking down the door.

Law enforcement does not fire warning shots. Firearms are not to be used unless lethal force is applicable. When violent rioters are breaking into secure areas of government installations and you are charged with protecting the people and property within, you are justified in shooting someone in the chest as they are actively breaching your barricaded line of defense. Second, let's dispel the myth of "unarmed." She had a gigantic fucking backpack concealed by a Trump flag. What was in that backpack? Could have been one or several explosive devices. Could have been weapons. Could have been supplies for taking hostages. Don't fucking bring a giant backpack to a high security location if you don't want to be seen as a threat and serious risk. It's easy to say she was unarmed after an autopsy, but in the heat of the moment during a terrorist attack, someone with a large backpack trying to get past a barricade shouldn't be treated as anything other than a potential suicide bomber.

She attempted to scale through the first true hole made in the barricade while armed men were on the other side telling them to stay out. What did she expect was going to happen?

And finally, her EXACT JOB in her 14 years of Air Force service was a Security Control Airman. Her entire job was to defend high priority parts of Air Force bases. She very likely had the same fucking training as the man that killed her. She was a moron.
