>/fit/ but not super experienced in mountain stuff
>decide to climb a mountain a couple hours north of my city
>I had been in the area before so I counted on background knowledge in navigating rather than making a firm plan
>Hit the trail at 6am
>Jog/run for most of the first 20km, (the way up), total elevation gain was almost 10k feet.
>The temperature alternated between very hot/ very cold when I was on the glacier, and I ran out of water after 13km
>The last couple of hours on the way up were very steep and tiring, so I took off my bag, jacket, sweater, shirt, gaters, boots, etc to shed weight
>basically delirious when I got to the top
Honestly was so tired I was in another world. There was no trail and I saw only two people within 8km of the mountain the whole time. If anything went wrong my naked body would probably be up there still, they would find it by following the trail of junk I had abandoned. Definitely worth it though and I think it was one of those experiences that made me a grown up.
