Nightcrawlers. You can ether just jig or bottom fish, or troll with a worm harness. If you're not into live bait, you can try spoons and large spinners (gotta get 'em deep, though).>pike
Most people around here (aside from ice fishing with tip-ups) troll with spoons, plugs (metal or hard plastic is superior to wood, especially balsa, for pike), or live bait. Frogs are good, too, but it's best to stick to the hard-bodies, since a pike's teeth do a real number on soft plastic.

Spearfishing for pike isn't legal everywhere, and even where it is, the seasons tend to be short as pike are actually considered a game fish, unlike most of the other species that spearfishing is more typically allowed for, like bowfin and gar.
