Currently, I believe that there had always been a purpose for Aspies/HFAs, up until the industrial revolution. The drive to accumulate and share knowledge would have been extremely biologically useful; if you know how everything is built, crafted, grown and bred by one community, traveling and sharing that knowledge with another community could make you an extremely valuable asset. The rock star of the stone age, if you will. Of course with quick easy travel and then the internet, we no longer serve a purpose and the gene that causes this drive will slowly die out in favor of the gene that causes reddit reposters. Because just like the peacock, once a species' existence becomes so effortless that evolution is no longer driven by survival, natural selection becomes a matter of flamboyancy.
