because the 50/1.7 was the only lense pentacks made that wasn't fucking womped by the canikon alternatives, and real photographers buy lenses not cameras.
Same story for Oly. Lovely cameras, and if you can be happy with basic 50mm's and maybe some macro offerings then you're fine.
But none of their cams did anything a Nikon FE couldn't already do by 1978, and in terms of lenses they just went unanswered from a quality perspective by PanPus (ie; they may have made one, but it wasn't even in the ballpark optically)>FD 14/2.8 L>nikkor 20mm's>FD 24/1.4 L>nikkor 28/2.8 Ai-S>nikkor 35/1.4>FD 50/1.2L>FD 85/1.2L>nikkor 105/2.5>FD 200/1.8L>FD 300/2.8L>literally any nikkor supertele ever
And this is the insurmountable lead canikon had before the AF era even began.
Olympus made a handful of slow, soft, CA riddled wideangles that people who haven't actually shot the real-brand options rave over, pentacks went with literal dad/pornographer meme-tier shit like fisheyes and soft focus and just shrugged and said "real pros shoot MF, buy that".
