Whatever you do don't listen to our resident Sonygger brand shill. Canon makes billions each quarter. And the M often takes #1 spot for best selling mirrorless. They're not going to kill it.
You have to decide if it meets your needs because it has a small native lens collection and that's not going to change. The M is their popular consumer mirrorless, sort of their mirrorless Rebel (even though the M5 is more prosumer than a Rebel). I don't think I would want the M as my primary system because of limited native lenses.
