I did like it, I shoot on a crop body so bought it for portraits. Most people I know don't like their photo taken so it was an expensive piece of glass doing nothing mostly. I sold it and got the D version and was just surprised at how sharp it was stopped down.
On a crop body the poor performance in the corners isn't as important wide open. Also, wide open it's still pretty sharp wide open but the contrast is quite poor. First time I looked through the view finder I thought there was eyelash crud and fingerprints everywhere.
For "portraits" I got the 105mm f2.8d micro lens, I like it a lot, very versatile. I have 3 zooms that I'm happy with; the primes are harder to pin down on a budget.
tl;dr I wish I could start over with my lens collection, kek
