Pretty sure if our limbs evolved from 6 individually articulated single fin spines like searobins have, we’d be looking at very different resultant limb-structures. If nothing else we probably wouldn’t see so much relative similarity in possessing toe/finger structures at the end of limbs, since they wouldn’t have pre-existing sub-divided bone structures to develop from. Evolution does/creates weird shit, but it still mostly remixes around the stuff it starts with.
