It can and does. There’s people who recast 5poa stuff in resin based on molds of Star Wars and other series.
Casting isn’t too hard. YouTube has dozens of videos on how to recast figures and parts, how to make silicone molds, etc. Non-video tutorials exist on numerous sites like Instructables and other DIY places too.
It may seem daunting to take it all in at once, but start small and simple to get the hang of the basics. Start with cheap Dollar Store figures, get silicone (liquid or putty) from your local arts and crafts stores (hobby stores will have some too), and use liquid resins and epoxies (hand-mix epoxy putties can work too such as Green Stuff and Milliput).
Start with replicating solid figures with no moving parts, then once you have that down, get cheap articulated figures like the Star Wars 5poa variety and disassemble them to copy limbs and parts individually to assemble like the original.
