Sorry, just gonna ramble about Toy Biz and Hasbro for a while.
A lot of the Toy Biz figures haven't aged too well. Especially in terms of proportions and some really gangly looking joints. Mostly hips and shoulders. Hasbro versions of characters Toy Biz has already done usually look better. There are exceptions though. Magneto for example.
But I have a big soft spot for the Toy Biz figures and the ones that do hold up are totally worth grabbing.
I'm a fan of what Hasbro is doing as well but I really miss the abundant paint washes (even if they arguably look like shit, my nostalgia misses that aesthetic big time) and the bases figures often came with.
Otherwise I think Hasbro has come a long way with their bucks, and they're releasing better looking figures than Toy Biz were. They just look a lot more natural than the Toy Biz figures ever did. They've definitely sacrificed some articulation in the process though. Ugly as the Toy Biz hips are, at least their Spidey figures articulated how a Spidey figure should. Pizza-Man can't even do the splits ffs.
Also I think Hasbro could really benefit from designing their ab crunches better. Something about how far up the torso the crunch usually is just looks bad to me with the jutting portion of the back when crunched forward. They got it right with their Doc Ock though. That ball joint chest design is great. Simple, effective, and isn't the least bit ugly. Would love to see more stuff like that, though I get that design works better on rotund characters. Still, prettier ab crunch plz.
