On one hand, it sucks that we lose our main source of farmable currency....
On the other hand, having to grind through 30+ trash stages every week is some of the most soulcrushing shit you had to endure with Honkai EVERY DAMN WEEK, so can't say I'm too sad to skip most of the trash and only do a few floors at your actual level. Hope they'll create some better event content or other ways to farm gems to compensate for that lack of income though, but I'm not gonna miss having to clear 8x3 floors of trash every other weekend.
This was definitely one of the major factors that contributed to content overload in Honkai, where you had way too much shit to do before every reset (raids, Memorial Arena (boss rush), abyss, guild boss, open world resource collection/missions, daily character fragment farm, daily exp/material resource grind, another guild based endless tower mode, and that's before adding on event missions/bosses). For someone barely struggling to keep up with dailies for an hour or two a day, this meant you could only finish everything your weeklies before reset by playing 10+ hrs on the weekend to make up for it. Definitely a huge casual filter, since it started bordering on the feeling where a MMO stops being a game and becomes a job/lifestyle.
To stop the rioting, all they would have to do is give a small primogem allowance based on your highest floor cleared at every reset (automatically set to 8 for anyone who cleared it previously + more for clearing higher floors). Could be half or a third of what you get from first clearing all 8 floors and it'd still be a major improvement over the previous system.
