Now Gardevoir is interesting. ALL its dex entries are about their trainers. And it's impossible to meet a wild Gardevoir anywhere. My theory is that Kirlia cannot evolve into Gardevoir without a trainer. Since a lot of their power is drawn from their relationship with their trainer, it's possible that it NEEDS a trainer to evolve.
Now we know the behavior of a trained Gardevoir, and we never see any wild ones. But technically, wild Gardevoir do exist; those who were released by their trainer. What happens to a Gardevoir that is released by a trainer in the wild? For a pokemon that dedicates its entire life to their trainer, I think the sense of betrayal would be so hurtful to them that they'd either go in hiding forever, which would be easy for them with their ability to see the future, or... they simply die. The loneliness would be too crushing.
Gallade, like Gardevoir, cannot be encountered in the wild. Its hard to believe that a Kirlia would stumble upon a Dawn stone, let alone know how to use it. However, its dex entries are NOT about their trainer. It's about how they fight. This leads me to believe that Gallade are more independent than Gardevoir. After all, it doesn't need a trainer's guidance to evolve. It just needs a Dawn stone. Yet, it needs a trainer to use a Dawn Stone. So Gallade is a pokemon that needs a trainer to evolve, but unlike Gardevoir, it doesn't need to develop a deep trust with their trainer. That's why I think Gallade is more independent. Maybe instead of seeing their trainer has a parent, they see them more like a sport coach or a military commander.
