Normal X-COM had a good structure. Every mission felt impactful, or you were waiting for research to finish. Early game, you were getting your ass chewed out by the ayys, but every mission that you finished felt like you were getting closer to researching personal armour or better weapons to give you a better footing. Late game, every mission felt like you were getting closer to cydonia/psy and you had clear goals in mind. Get the leader/commander, research the shit, get a move on.
In here, there's way too much fucking RNG, in both missions, since you can go months without getting the missions needed to actually progress in the tech tree, or in the research itself, since you need to roll the wheel to get the research needed for lasers/plasma/sonic cannons/better planes/actually finishing the game/better weapons/good armour. It's actually painful. Nothing but ayy lmao assaults feel like they matter, since they have the engineers, and even then they're shit because you're not even guaranteed to get the tech you need.
You just keep doing missions over and over and over and over and over to get the positive points to pass the month without getting shut down.
The dev completely missed the point of the original game >>265762
At the point where I am(personal armour, lasers) you don't even need to train your fags anymore. I have access to the skymarshall and tanks so I can use the classic "drown the enemies in men/use tanks as snipers" tactic but it's sooooo boring. What's really bad for b-teams is sanity that gets FUCKED without a sensorium and severely limits the time you have on missions with aliens. Awful mechanic.
