Of all backgrounds, I did NOT fucking expect Mortal Engines. I love the shit out of that series. I fucking cried at the end of A Darkling Plain, same with the end of Scrivener's Moon.
Philip Reeve is amazing. The feeling of hopelessness, knowing that all the good characters are doomed to suffer, is pervasive throughout all the books. It hits like a fucking truck.
