S-sounds like the job had a substantial impact on your stress level, causing the overeating.
So, the obvious choice is to not work! Haha, if only. I would suggest moving away from night shift and towards more normal hours, along with asking your PCP or GP about cognitive behavioral therapy, which will help teach you how to deal with your anxiety and stress in productive ways.
Try this, however, the next time you are mad, anxious, or stressed:
1. Breath in for 4 seconds
2. Hold for 4 seconds
3. breath out over 4 seconds
4. Hold our for 4 seconds
This works to dooth the amygdala and prevent co2 depletion, reducing anger and anxiety. It's called squared breathing, feel free to Google it if you don't believe.me
I would also try delaying when you eat a snack or meal, to give yourself control over it. Little delays at first, then longer and longer. You can also try this as you eat, simply extending how long it takes too eat by taking a bite every 20 seconds or so. This improves digestion, satisfaction, and gives you control over your eating habits.
eventually, you can move to portion control as you get more and more control and less and less anxiety <4 make sense?
