He seems pretty comfortable in the main shafts unless it's a Talc mine. He also constantly makes it a point to stay in the main levels of mines and not venture into a stope. He goes in a few mines where people died while exploring and a couple that were abandoned after a collapse entombed the people working there.
In one of the videos it mentions that he is a geologist and once prospected old mines for a job. Locating and accessing these places is no simple task since the more known and accessible mines are usually sealed for liability reasons. Most of these places aren't even on a map.
