It's not necessarily the camera, but the brain.
If you shoot without sharpening they're impressive devices capable of truly amazing photos.
If you have a decent phone with Camera2API accessibility download OpenCamera and turn sharpening and noise reduction off in "Processing settings" after enabling Camera2 API and you'll see a night and day difference.
Shit overcooked meme processed photos vs ordinary small sensor photo you'd expect.>>3748003
The cameras are good.
The software/processing is simply atrocious.
Standard camera apps bad.
Androids with RAW support can be great. Literally beat DSLRs in some areas and they're more technically advanced from a programming level than dedicated cameras which gives them easy to use automatic focus bracketing and great performance for noise reduction photo stacking.
I'm talking about objective quality here not memes.
Mount an Android to something stable and use focus bracketing, then try the same with a DSLR. I can rack focus on my $100 android from macro to infinity over 1000 shots with fine steps between, but can't do the same with my DSLRs or mirrorless cameras.
The only thing they're bad at is noise performance but if you shoot in bright light that goes away and if you're shooting static subjects on a tripod you can do very good photo stacking.
The camera jew fears the smartphone RAW.
The smartphones sabotage their own images to provide HDR style edits to "wow" normies but deep down the hardware is capable of good shit if you use it right.
