what about being stuck in the resovior of a portable toilet during a concert where chili and burritos are being served? That seems pretty hopeless to me.
Imagine drowning in spectice liquid shit and piss from thousands of people within the short time frame of a few hours.
This is the thing about optimists and those who say "There is no such thing as absolute despair", they've never experienced or witnessed even moderate despair. The thought of such suffering literally offends their perspective on life, so more often than not, it is ignored.
There is unbelievable suffering, there is unbelievable pain. It happens every waking and sleeping minute, and most of us aren't even aware of it taking place because we do not have to think or witness it, or it is simply not told to us so that we may live our lives of comfort.
That being said, you sentiment is ultimately correct; there is no such thing as absolute failure, but you must realize that failure can be many extreme magnitudes leading up to absolute. You have no idea of the horrors of Reality, and of the things that inhabit it.
Cling to your single static spark that absolute failure is not achievable, for it is something that will never leave, regardless of how awful things can, and ultimately will turn out to be at any given point in time either for you, or for something else.
