I invent a personality in my head for the protag, I usually take one trait of mine, turn it up to 11 and make it their primary attribute.>Read a lot>So my protag in Alpha Sapphire keeps his nose in a huge book (basically the PokeBible) through the entire adventure>Reserved yet arrogant, never underestimates his opponents but always picks at their failings>Only ever looks up from his book to dish out mean spirited quips>Doesn't even pay much attention to his own battles, just barks out one word commands to his pokemon
Despite that last detail I always visualize the battles in my head, and I take in mind the pokemon's nature to decide how they execute their attacks. A naughty Absol would dick about in battle and pounce around making mocking and jeering sounds to aggravate the opponent, for example.
Usually the RP gets more interesting around the end of the game when I actually start to run into trouble, but AS was easy as fuck so my protag just remained forever smug.>beat Steven>Turned the final page on his book and shut it for the last time>"Stick to rock collecting."

I have no defense though. I'm just super autistic in my personal life, I never allow this stuff to seep into my social life whatsoever.
