I try to make a weapon fun to use, if it isnt fun to use and covers some gap in the roster why bother adding it ? Can't be assed to balance things compared to anything but vanilla.
Speaking of "balance" there are two ways to make a weapon unfun to use, one is to make it too underpowered to be fun. Breaks my heart to see modders add cool looking guns with neat animations and shit for them to just be objectively worse of vanilla guns, would be better to then just take a literal vanilla statline in a new skin and tell the player in the description then if you can't make the weapon unique.
The other way is by making it too powerful, which isnt fun to use in the way that it reduces the game by reducing the combat mechanics to "left click and win".
As I talked a bit about it in the last thread I realized the prince killer torps in the current version are a bit of this, their medium mount just shits all over harpoon pods without doing anything particulary unique. Also dont like that a missile with that name is a good weapon against capital ships. I can get the code to work for MIRV splitting near missiles it could also get promoted to "PD missile"
Btw any other modders here that know how many ballistic projectiles you can add before caring about performance and lag spikes? This version shoots 30 pellets.
