I remember as a wee lad in school searching "war" on armorgames because I knew that's where all the good strategy games would be. Used to be some top shelf shit there. Ones I can remember off the top of my head were>Age of War
Obvious classic that everyone remembers, primitive as fuck revisiting but the nostalgia hits hard when you hear the song>Warfare 1917
Gritty slog through the trenches, artillery and gas were fucking frustrating as hell but nothing felt quite as good as having an MG mow down three squads of enemy riflemen in no-mans land.>Warfare 1944
While technically a more complex game than 1917, I thought the balance was way more fucked and you didn't have anywhere near as much freedom to have fun on the battlefield because they made the ai so much more unforgiving of you trying to have fun.>Epic War
Age of War with better gameplay but less soul. Most of it's problems came from slow as shit pacing dragging every mission in a fuckhuge campaign way too far out. Boss at the end was menacing though, I remember there was a game that ripped it's gameplay and used the Age of War song that was released on consoles, but despite 100%ing the game I can't remember what it was called because it wasn't very good.>Bowmaster
Age of War but with even worse pacing and much easier. Only sticks out to me because it was the first flash game I ever played. I remember playing it for months before I realized I could make soldiers, I had actually been plinking the enemy castle with arrows to win before that.>Warlords
My favorite of all the flash games I played, doing retarded shit like pic related was a blast. Game is pretty easy when you use your brain for 2 seconds to realize spamming in one lane is the best strategy, but if you limit yourself and try to play it as intended the game is fucking incredible. Warlords Heroes was good too, though that was an rpg rather than a strategy game. Had a great atmosphere for a flash game.
