This. You should reject modernity for its material conditions, its impending ecological disasters, not moralistic or "political" (as in "how people should behave socially with each other") reasons. Every society ever was "degenerate", never was there a prefect one.
What defines modernity is our control over the earth and the objects on it. Your feelings of alienation, that you don't belong here, are because people richer than you have more control than ever, over your food, your land, what you can and can't do in your own private life, your lack of mobility on all levels, etc. Pick a moralistic thing you don't like and you'll find it multiple times throughout history, but nowhere will you find THIS much control, especially not maintained control that goes on forever, perpetuating itself.
Look forward, anons. The pasts you cling to are imagined if not outright fake. The better world is one that will be made and claimed, not inherited or restored. Things were always shit, and they're shitter than ever in new ways. There are still utopias.
